Sustainability

The main pillars of sustainability are: Economic; Environmental and Social.

The underlying foundation of any biomass-based Biofuel or Bioenergy integrated project is its potential to have a positive social impact.

The project’s commitment to the local community in the surrounding areas is a key component of our recommendation. A portion of the total plantation area is allocated to small growers and cooperatives to supply energy cane biomass to the project.

The projects will serve as a catalyst and driving force for long-term regional development in new and isolated agricultural regions. This will foster the local community and economy in a long-term, profitable, and sustainable manner, as follows:

1) The projects will have a positive impact on several families (small growers), both directly and indirectly:

  • Permanent Jobs:
    • direct jobs (Industrial + Agricultural)
    • indirect jobs (outsourced)
  • Small grower permanent: ≈1.2 person/ha

2) Program for agricultural technology transfer and improvement:

  • Through proprietary technology licensing in areas such as the breeding program for Energy Cane Varieties, Geotechnology tools, and industrial conversion, projects will support small growers in increasing their productivity on Energy Cane and complementary food crop fields. This support is aimed at enhancing the overall efficiency of small-scale farming operations. By providing access to advanced technologies and expertise, these projects can help small growers overcome existing challenges and improve their yields

3) Economic benefits:

  • Projects are expected to contribute to a regional increase in long-term employment opportunities, revenue generation, and enhanced living standards of communities residing in the surrounding areas of the project, through the generation of electric power and the implementation of other related infrastructure developments. This is typically achieved by creating a stable source of income for local residents, either directly through employment in the project or indirectly through the stimulation of local businesses and services.
